When your Manicurist refers you to seek medical care and or treatment

Healthy nails and skin are a part of an essential well being. When they show signs of an infection, swelling or redness treatment is necessary and also warning signs may indicate an underlying medical problem and or condition. If you visit your Manicurist regularly it is possible that she or he may be your first line of defense but [Manicurists cannot diagnose your symptoms] but serve as extra eyes to alert you to see a physician [only your Physician/Podiatrist/Dermatologist] can diagnose medical conditions and or medical nail or skin problems. What may look normal to you could signal to a Licensed Manicurist a problem that is in need of professional medical care and or treatment that only a Physician,Dermatologist or Podiatrist are qualified to treat. Manicurists are trained professionals that can cosmetically improve nail and skin conditions[on nails and skin that show no sign of infections, swelling or redness] with specialized products, treatments and or services according to the needs of each client. Manicurists cannot diagnose or treat medical nail and skin problems. They can only refer clients to seek medical treatment and diagnosis. They perform services that are described as what is cosmetically appealing according to the Nail Technology Act of 1985.

Like for instance, a Manicurist can help create a favorable appearance to nails and skin by cosmetically
correcting and or enhancing and or to bring about more attractive features. Examples, Nail Treatments to help strengthen weak, brittle nails,Reconditioning Treatments to help correct dry skin and cuticles and Nail Enhancements to lengthen short nails or give them a more appealing length and or look.

The best way to keep nail and skin healthy is to make sure you stay proactive and to schedule regular visits for nail and skin care services, schedule regular visits to your physician and or dermatologist and pay
attention to any changes in your nails or skin. Document the changes and share them with your Manicurist before
services and share them with your Physician or Dermatologist and or Podiatrist. Don't be afraid to discuss any nail
or skin problems. Putting off medical care and or treatment may cause more harm than good.

Most Professionals use a Client Profile to help guide them.

A Client Profile is a useful tool to help the professional decide what nail or skin care
services are safe for each client and beneficial. It asks each client to list their current nail and
skin care condition and or problem also their current health condition and and or problem.
A Client Profile helps protect the Professional and Client.

Nail Or Skin Problems May Also Be Contagious or Even Indicate A Potential  Health Problem. If You
Are Experiencing Any Problems Please Schedule An Appointment With Your Physician/Podiatrist/Dermatologist. Please Seek Medical Attention.
